Town 102 at Wattisham Airfield
Town 102's had inside access to where the UK's 67 Apache helicopters are based.
Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk is the main operating base for the country's attack helicopter force.
Apache’s cost £40m each - and currently 9 are out in Afghanistan. They're part of the Joint Helicopter Force and are based at Camp Bastion. They're supporting our troops - but can also be called in to assist other NATO forces.
They're main aim is to protect other aircraft and try to help stabalise the country.
Once they've flown for 600 hours they have to come back here to Suffolk to get checked over.
Ground crews and maintenance teams work round the clock to make sure they're safe to fly again.
There's also state of the art training facilities at Wattisham - including simulators for pilots to experience things they can't do on ranges elsewhere in the UK. As part of their training pilots spend time in Arizona to experience extreme temperatures and an environment similar to that in Afghanistan.
There's always an apache presence in Afghanistan - and at the moment squadrons are being deployed there every 4 months.
Wattisham has strong local support and is strengthening links with the community - this summer a parade is going to be held to celebrate the airfield's 70th Anniversary.
