Walk of Thoughts for St Elizabeth Hospice

The sixth annual Walk of Thoughts for St Elizabeth Hospice will take place on Sunday 4th March 2012 at Felixstowe.

The circular six-mile route will take around three hours and starts from the Clifflands Car Park, Cliff Road, and goes along the beach and the River Deben.

Beforehand, there will be a remembrance service, led by Revd Jane Kingsnorth, St Elizabeth Hospice chaplain, at 10.30am.

The sponsored event attracts keen walkers, as well as those remembering loved ones.
The walk is open to people of all ages and dogs are welcome, providing they are kept on leads.

Walkers can register in advance or on the day from 10am. Registration fees are £7 for adults in advance (or £8 on the day) and £5 for children under 16 in advance (or £4 on the day).

Ipswich Hospital Band and Norfolk Broads Concert Band Joint Charity Concert

The two bands are giving a concert in aid of the Ipswich Head & Neck Cancer Support Group, a local group which was formed to help support people with this cancer along with their family and carers.

The money raised will go towards the group's work to help support new and existing patients with meetings, one to one support and making information and resources available.

Come and join the British Heart Foundation and help us to celebrate with a night of glamorous fun whilst raising money to help heart patients.

The red themed evening will start at 7.30pm, walk in on the red carpet and enjoy a red fruit cocktail, before sitting down to a three-course dinner, followed by coffee and a disco.

Tickets cost £45.00 per person (all proceeds to the British Heart Foundation) and discounts are available for tables of 10.

Right now, heart and circulatory disease is the UKs biggest killer. All money raised from the ball will support the British Heart Foundation to fund vital research into the causes, treatment and prevention of heart disease and circulatory problems, and also for research into childrens heart problems and the provision of cardiac care equipment for local hospitals.

The walk will begin and finish at Stowmarket Town Football Club.

Jubilee Picnic on the playing fields as part of the Big Lunch for the celebrations of the Queens Jubilee. This is taking place on Sunday 3rd June from midday.
The event is for villagers to bring along a picnic and rug, or to enjoy our barbeque. We have a licensed bar and music.
The Speedway Group that runs here in the village are offering free rides to kids.
The Parish Council is providing free of charge a jubilee mug for every child of the village.

The Olympic Flame in Ipswich this July

The Olympic Flame will come to Ipswich on the evening of Thursday 5th July and will form the centrepiece of an entertainment extravaganza set in Christchurch Park. As part of the event, LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic & Paralympic Games) and its presenting partners Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung will stage a variety of entertainment shows culminating in a cauldron being lit from the flame itself.
The Olympic Flame arrives in the UK from Greece on 18th May 2012 and a 70-day Torch Relay starts the next day from Land’s End. In total it is expected to travel 8,000 miles before it arrives in the Olympic Stadium in east London on 27th July.
