The official opening of the Leiston combined Police and Fire Station will take place today.
The redevelopment of the station will see Police and Fire services housed under the same roof, as well as the development of a number of new facilities.
As well as updating the existing station, the development has provided modern welfare facilities for Police and Fire personnel, new office accommodation, improved IT provision and enhancements to reduce its impact on the environment.
This will be the tenth shared community fire and police facility in Suffolk with stations already operating in Newmarket, Saxmundham, Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Ixworth, Elmswell, Debenham, Framlingham and Clare.
Councillor Richard Rout and Police and Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore will formally open the shared station on King George's Avenue at 2pm, along with Suffolk Chief Fire Officer Mark Hardingham.
