Tragic Death of Young Girl on Norfolk Beach Prompts Huge Fundraising Response

A fundraising page for a toddler who died tragically after an inflatable trampoline exploded on Gorleston beach in Norfolk has reached over £10,000.

Three-year-old Ava-May Littleboy, from Somersham in Suffolk, died on the morning of Sunday July 1 from a head injury after a bouncy castle exploded.

Her family have set up a Crowdfunding page to raise money to erect a park bench in her name in Somersham.

The page target was set at £1,500 but in the last two days it has raised more than £10,000.

Ava-May’s grandmother Angela Littleboy left a message on the page saying the family were 'overwhelmed'.

She said: “To all that have donated for this cause, we don't know all of you but I am overwhelmed by your love and thoughts.”

Specialist experts were called in to assist with the investigation on Tuesday to examine the inflatable equipment.

A police cordon remains in place at the scene on the Lower Esplanade.

It comes just two weeks after two people were jailed over the death of a seven-year-old girl on similar inflatable equipment at an event in Harlow, Essex in 2016.

Summer Grant, from Norwich, was blown 300 metres after the bouncy castle she was on was not properly secured. She later died in hospital.

In June Shelby and Will Thurston were found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence.

Any witnesses to the incident on Gorleston beach who have not yet spoken to the police or anyone who may have captured the incident on their phone or camera is encouraged to call Norfolk Police on 101.

Alternatively you can contact contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

You can donate to the Crowdfunding page here.
